Drive to Save Lives: Protecting Ukraine’s Drone Crews

Drone operators in Ukraine are among the most vital — and most hunted — defenders on the battlefield. Every day, they stop incoming Russian drones that would otherwise strike homes, hospitals, and critical infrastructure. In doing so, they protect tens of thousands of civilian lives.

But this makes them a primary target.

Protecting these crews isn’t just about saving a few soldiers — it’s about safeguarding the people they defend. When a drone team survives, entire communities are safer.

A UAV crew is a tightly coordinated, three-person unit: a pilot, a navigator, and a field technician. Together, they operate with precision in real time, guiding troops and intercepting threats before they reach civilians. Training one crew takes months and significant resources. Losing one is not easily replaced.

What keeps them alive is mobility.

One van. One crew. One life-saving advantage.

An all-wheel-drive van allows these teams to reach critical positions across rough terrain — and, just as importantly, to leave before the enemy can strike. It serves as their mobile command center, their workspace, and often their only chance to escape detection.

Dignitas Ukraine is working to equip 5 active UAV Ukrainian defense crews with all-terrain vans — each one going directly to a crew operating on the front lines in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Campaign Goal: $45,000
$9,000 = one van for one crew
5 crews = 5 vans = lives protected across 3 front regions

These crews are not just monitored — they are actively hunted. Russian forces use long-range precision weapons, launched from over 60 miles away, specifically to eliminate drone teams.

There is only one reliable defense: be ready, move fast, and relocate immediately.

Without a capable 4×4 vehicle, that becomes impossible.

“A 4×4 van is a critical necessity for a UAV crew. It allows drone teams to be not just the eyes of the unit, but an independent defence force. Most importantly, it helps preserve the lives of our people.”
