From April 6–9, 2025, Washington, D.C., hosted the largest-ever Ukraine Action Summit. Over 600 supporters from across the U.S., including Puerto Rico, gathered to show support for Ukraine, among them representatives of Dignitas Ukraine.

Organized by the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU), this important event brought together ordinary Americans and notable leaders, all determined to keep vital U.S. support flowing to Ukraine.

Common Goals, Shared Values

The Summit focused on bipartisan unity, stressing that continued U.S. support for Ukraine is important for both countries and for democracy worldwide. Attendees agreed that helping Ukraine is deeply connected to American values like freedom, democracy, and independence.

  • Legislative Progress: After these meetings, many lawmakers pledged support for the “Sanctioning russia Act of 2025,” new bipartisan legislation designed to increase sanctions on russia and support Ukraine’s recovery.
  • Strong Bipartisan Message: Leaders from both political parties publicly showed strong commitment to supporting Ukraine, sending a unified message both in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Stronger Advocacy Groups: The Summit energized advocacy networks, inspiring new volunteers and creating stronger partnerships to continue supporting Ukraine across America.

Understanding American Opinion

The Ukraine Action Summit happened at a time when American public opinion on Ukraine is mixed, with some signs of fatigue. Organizers successfully addressed these issues by emphasizing unity across political lines and making clear that helping Ukraine is a stand against tyranny and for democracy.

Another growing concern is russian propaganda. Its disinformation campaigns—spread by an army of propagandists and trolls and directed by the russian government—are designed to confuse, mislead, and manipulate public opinion in the U.S. and worldwide. They distort the truth about the war and try to shift sympathy toward russia. This disinformation has already influenced many people, making them question the facts and adopt narratives that serve russian interests. It’s a serious challenge that must be addressed through public awareness, education, and strong media literacy.

The Summit served as a powerful reminder to Americans: Ukraine’s fight is not only about its own freedom — it directly affects U.S. national security and even more. A free and stable Ukraine stands as a frontline defense for peace in Europe, which directly supports American safety and economic interests. If russia is allowed to succeed in Ukraine, it will encourage other authoritarian regimes, threaten U.S. allies and partners, and destabilize the global order. Supporting Ukraine helps deter aggression worldwide and upholds the international system that keeps America, Europe, and the world secure.

Despite these challenges, the Summit showed that American support for Ukraine remains strong, actively shaping public discussion and securing real commitments from policymakers.

Moving Forward Together

The Summit clearly demonstrated that U.S. support is not only necessary but also effective in helping Ukraine defend itself and rebuild. With stronger advocacy, new legislative achievements, and bipartisan unity, the Summit was a major step forward in America’s ongoing partnership with Ukraine.

Dignitas Ukraine proudly supports these efforts, dedicated to turning this momentum into lasting peace, safety, and recovery for Ukraine.

Rally: Stand for American Values. Support Ukraine

Although it was not an official part of the Summit, a powerful rally took place on April 6 at the Lincoln Memorial titled “Stand for American Values. Support Ukraine.” Many of the same advocates who participated in the Summit also joined the rally. Hundreds came together to show their support for Ukraine and urge continued U.S. commitment.

Lyuba Shipovich, co-founder of Dignitas Ukraine, delivered a compelling speech. Her message was simple but powerful: this is not just Ukraine’s war—it’s a global fight against tyranny. Her words resonated with many in the crowd and reminded us why every voice and every action matters.

The rally also offered a unique opportunity for the Dignitas Ukraine team to connect in person with other like-minded organizations, including the American Coalition for Ukraine, United Help Ukraine, Razom for Ukraine, Nova Ukraine, and the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America. The rally reminds us that advocacy is not just about policy — it’s about people who care, who take action, and who show up, rain or shine.

What You Can Do

Although support for Ukraine remains strong, russian disinformation is working—and we need all hands on deck to make sure Ukraine stays visible in the public conversation.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Reach out to Congress: Don’t underestimate the power of a message. Call, write, or email your representatives regularly—daily or weekly—to remind them Ukraine’s fight is our fight too.
  • Spread the word: Share trusted news and real stories from Ukraine. Your posts and conversations can help break through the fog of disinformation.
  • Advocate: Talk to your friends, family, coworkers. Host or attend community discussions. Be the reason someone learns the truth.
  • Join future events: Don’t sit this one out. Dignitas Ukraine will be hosting and participating in upcoming events across the U.S. to connect, speak out, and drive change. Keep an eye out—we’ll be announcing future actions very soon.

You amplify our message and make it stronger. Together, we can make sure the U.S. continues to stand strong with Ukraine.
