As russia intensifies its use of drones into the Ukrainian territory to track targets and guide missiles, it is essential for Ukrainian soldiers to know if there is an enemy drone flying overhead.
A Ukrainian-Made Solution
To meet this urgent need, Dignitas Ukraine has procured “Tsukorok” (“Sugar”) detectors — innovative, locally made devices that help defenders detect enemy drones before it’s too late.
How It Works
Tsukorok is designed to identify russian drones, and air defense equipment through their radio emissions. It indicates the drone’s proximity, allowing for safe relocation or exit the vehicle under attack by the UAV.
This device is a radio signal scanner designed to detect different sources of radio signals, including russian drones like Orlan, Eleron, Zala, Lancet, Supercam, as well as commercial drones like DJI Mavic and standard FPV drones. It can also pick up signals from enemy electronic warfare systems.
When it detects a signal, the device beeps, vibrates, and shows the type of drone (if recognized) and signal strength on the screen.
Importantly, it only listens — it doesn’t transmit anything — making it invisible to russian detection systems.
Why “Tsukorok” (“Sugar”)?
For the first prototype, the developer sought the simplest casing. The best option that worked for the prototype but didn’t go into production was a plastic sugar box.
This actually gave the device its name. It also suggested a name for the company – “Drone Spices”. Other products also received “tasty” names – “Curry”, “Vanilla Sugar”, “Vinegar”, “Saffron”.

Small enough to fit in your hand or pocket or in the palm of a hand, Tsukorok is lightweight, durable, and easy to use — with a screen and antennas built in. It gives Ukrainian soldiers real-time awareness of nearby threats and helps them take cover, relocate, or exit vehicles before being targeted.
By providing early warnings and real-time situational awareness, Tsukorok is helping protect the lives of Ukrainian defenders and changing the way soldiers respond to the growing drone threat.
