At the end of March – beginning of April 2025, Dignitas Ukraine hosted a series of impactful community events in Chicago, New York, New Jersey and Raleigh, North Carolina uniting local supporters, advocates, and volunteers in solidarity with Ukraine. Over the course of about two weeks the team held numerous community meetings — from intimate gatherings to dynamic public events — bringing people together for a shared cause.

The highlight of these gatherings was the participation of Lyuba Shipovich — co-founder of Dignitas Ukraine, Ukrainian-American activist, technology expert, and devoted volunteer — who brought powerful insights and energy to each meeting.

Thanks to the generosity and strong engagement of the Chicago community, Dignitas Ukraine raised over $12,000 to support humanitarian and defense initiatives in Ukraine.

Jazz Club Fundraiser for Ukraine – Chicago Style

One of the most memorable evenings took place at Le Piano, a premier jazz venue in Chicago known for its intimate ambiance and dedication to musical excellence.

Organized to support humanitarian relief in Ukraine’s most affected regions, this special event featured a lineup of incredible musicians: Bradley Williams, Chad Willetts, Stacey McMichael, Dez Desormeaux, Devon Sandridge, and special guest vocalist Lynne Jordan.

The evening also included a charity auction, where attendees had the opportunity to bid on unique items, including:

  • A powerful artwork, sold in support of Ukraine
  • A Ukrainian flag signed by Maria Berlinska, a symbol of courage and resilience

Thanks to the generosity of the Chicago community, the evening raised vital funds and brought people together around a shared commitment to helping Ukraine.

Defense Technologies & National Survival

Dignitas Ukraine also hosted two more powerful sessions titled “Defense Technologies & National Survival”, where Lyuba Shipovich led a discussion on the future of defense. She shared expert knowledge on:

  • Cutting-edge drone technology
  • Advanced electronic warfare (EW) systems
  • Tactical innovations known as “tsukorky
  • And other key technologies critical to Ukraine’s survival and success

Strengthening Community & Collaboration in Chicago

Throughout all eight events, Lyuba provided valuable updates on the current state of Ukraine, highlighting stories from the frontlines and the reality of life during war.

Dima Kavun, President of Dignitas Ukraine, spoke about the work of the U.S. team and the impact being made thanks to supporters across the country — from delivering drones and critical supplies to training defenders and veterans.

Another important meeting was held with Help Razom, a Chicago-based nonprofit known for assembling and distributing medical IFAKs, paramedic kits, and a wide range of donated supplies. They are also involved in assembling drones and sending them to Ukraine’s defenders.

We’re proud to announce that Dignitas Ukraine and Help Razom have reached an agreement to begin a collaboration — more details to come soon!

These events in Chicago were more than fundraisers — they were moments of unity, inspiration, and purpose. They showed how one city can come together to support a country in crisis — and how every voice, every dollar, and every act of kindness brings Ukraine closer to victory.

Stay tuned for more updates from Dignitas Ukraine — and thank you, Chicago, for standing with us.
